Today Vanna and I went to Barnard Castle, Egglestone Abbey and Shildon Railway museum. We had a great time; arguably our best trip out this Christmas (enjoyable as the panto was, nothing beats a bit of history…right?). As we had only visited Fountains Abbey last year, this was Vanna’s first real opportunity to explore an old English castle. And she relished it. We both did. The weather, though windy, was perfect so we had a complete, fun experience at all three places. It was just a fantastic day.
Naturally, we took lots and lots of photos of the experience. So many photos, in fact, that one blog post isn’t enough to include them all. So, I’ve put a selection of pictures from Barnard Castle (mostly the ones with Vanna or myself in) below, and then tomorrow I’ll upload the pictures from Egglestone and Shildon. I hope you enjoy them.
